If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard about the Thailand full moon parties, here’s the deal. Each month on the full moon there’s a huge party that happens on Koh Phangan. What started out apparently as a birthday party has grown to be a massive party each month with spin offs at full moon, new moon and any other thing the Thai’s can think of.
We had heard from friends that Utrecht was a cool place to check out. Lesser known than Amsterdam, Utrecht still has the same liberal attitudes but a less crazy vibe. And being home to a major university was a plus, as they should have some neat shops and some sort of scene. Plus I needed a new day bag, the small attach-on bags that we have for our backpacks have been considered useless. You can fit 1 thing in them, and then it’s full. It makes me look like I stole a kindergarten kids schoolbag when I wear it.
None the less, our week there was off the charts. We rented ourselves a great little condo to share, drank way too much cheap wine, made some great meals, sunbathed on the beach, laughed our asses off, and danced to some great music in the most classy venues we think any junglist will ever see.
One thing about the festival I didn’t like though was the trashiness of the English people. There’s only one type of animal I know that lives in it’s own filth, wallowing and scrounging through the trash for food. We saw people sitting at the food fair and just throwing their unwanted food on the ground; eating in-between trash and leaving whole chicken cadavers while throwing bottles on the ground.
After hearing Hospitalities Sound at Matter Nightclub, which had better sound than clubs in Vancouver, I was stoked to hear the grand-daddy of all sound systems at a special Valve System showdown at Indigo nightclub at the O2 arena. Walking in with anticipation of gut wrenching bass that you can feel in your spine, I should have known something was up as the sticky floor pulled at my shoes and the sound was a bit off.
Before we knew it we where actually setting dreams into plans. Picking tentative dates, places to go, things we must do, researching events to attend, and then choosing the location to start it all… and of course of all the places in Europe to choose from. We choose Amsterdam to set us off on the right foot.
Finally on a warm summer day in August of 2009 we got off a train in Amsterdam and like it was out of some teenage summer movie we saw our friends down at the end of the walkway with the same travel tired weary smiles as us.
Before I get to the Jungle Worship… my first order of business is to announce our Liverpool pictures are uploaded to Flickr. Check them out by clicking on this awesome hot link that will send you to flickr land. We’ve used PictoBrowser in the recent past to show the photos as a gallery within our
We are such classy people (hah… yah right!) that we decided to first class it up for our train from Liverpool to London. For just a mere 6 pounds each we could upgrade our economy seats to first class. So far those dollars spent have double themselves in savings. First Class on Virgin Trains get
A festival called Get Loaded in the Park is the sole reason we suddenly have confirm some of our Europeans plans. Because really… a festival with a name like that sounds like a party that can’t be missed! Get Loaded in the Park is a one day outdoor festival in London. Located at Clapham Common
I slightly sprained my ankle last night while walking with Scott and Alex trying to find a place to stop for dinner. Unsure how I managed to do it.. but it happened. Least it’s not that bad and already feels way better then last night. *knock on wood* Things like that always happen to me. At least somehow
