Halong Bay: Photo essay

Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in northeastern Vietnam that features thousands of limestone krasts and islands in a variety of shapes and sizes. 500 million years of formation from different conditions and enviroments have created a place of wonderment and beauty. The bay is also filled with enourmous caves, floating fishing villages, islands with hotels and tourist facilites, plus hundreds of traditional junks and other boats of the past creating quite a magical scene.

We had a great time on our over night tour of Halong Bay. Our junk was impressive, met some good people, and saw some amazing things. The weather was grey skies, foggy, and a bit chilly. However, this did create quite an interesting effect to the bay. Almost like something out of a fantasy book. Here is a collection of our best images from the tour.
