Chasing Butterflies and Sky Scrapers

We had to pre-occupy ourselves somehow while waiting to receive our Thai visas so we found ourselves exploring the inside of Kuala Lumpurs Butterfly Park. It was a beautiful place to spend an afternoon and get real close to some amazing butterflies. You can’t help but to run around there in bliss chasing the butterflies all while trying to get that perfect shot. However, it’s extra humid in the enclosure so between moments of blissfully watching a butterfly flutter by you need to gasp for air, shake your shirt to create some breeze on your chest, and wipe you forehead before you get sweaty sunscreen in your eye. We couldn’t even wear our sunglasses inside because they would just fog up instantly!

Even Scott was quite intrigued by these beautiful peaceful looking creatures and was very keen to get us some national geographic worthy shots to share back home. If your not much of a butterfly fan, they do have an area with various other insects found in Asia. Most of them are huge, ugly, and make you get the creeps if you think about one of these climbing into your perfect beach bungalow. I was quite glad they were in their own small inclosure rather then being allowed to fly around and possibly land on you like the butterflies!

Here is the best of our shots:

After loosing about 5 pounds in sweat and taking some pretty sweet pictures we headed to the one sight in Kuala Lumpor that no one can miss. The two tallest twin towers in the world, Petronas Towers. Walking up to these impressive towers and looking up can almost give you vertigo. We were quite excited to ride the elevator up to the sky bridge to see the epic view, especially since we didn’t get to enjoy the view at the top of the Eiffel Tower. But, once again disappointment came knocking on our door. Some sort of Indian holiday was being celebrated which resulted in the sky bridge being closed to the public. Bah!! Instead we got to watch the ants inside the shopping mall area, which is also quite impressive!

They go on, and on, and on.

And they are this big!
Kuala Lumpor is a good city to spend a couple days in while getting a Thai visa. But we’ve had enough of the city and are looking forward to some more beach life for a while.
